Born in Australia, but now living in Berlin, Christine Kakaire has dedicated her entire adult life to music and culture. She’s worked for music PR, vinyl record stores, music download platforms and as a journalist, editor and curator. Her bylines include Crack, DJ Mag, Pitchfork and Resident Advisor and she’s worked as a moderator for festivals like Insomnia, Le Guess Who? and AVA, as well as with brands like Patreon, Red Bull Music Academy and Audio Technica.
She currently serves as a member of the editorial team at CTM - Festival for Adventurous Music in Berlin, and leads the Black Creative Database, an initiative of the Black Artist Database. She also lectures on cultural theory and popular music at The British and Irish Modern Music Institute in Berlin.
At Sónar+D this year, she’ll moderate a series of Q&As at Corner+D by Patreon, located within the delegate-only area Lounge+D by Patreon.
