Music videos still are a space of freedom and audiovisual creativity. In the last few years we have seen a new rise of the genre with a good number of filmmakers embracing it or using it as a platform for career take-off. This has been felt especially in Barcelona, where a new generation of filmmakers are creating powerful pieces and recording how today's culture and its creators is blooming in full force, with a very particular visual style.
We have chosen three directors that we consider to represent this new generation very well. In this session, they show their work, their vision and how they translate sound imaginaries into visual narratives; their influences as filmmakers, and the relationship with the musicians they work with.
Participants in this session are: Barbara Farré, winner of the Gaudí award and the Biznaga de Plata award (Festival de Málaga). As a music video director, she has worked with Rosalía, Bad Gyal, Amaia and C.Tangana among others. David Camarero, filmmaker, he has done video clips for Yung Beef, Amaia, Fuego, Nathy Peluso, Deva or Rocío Marquez. Ana Sting, filmmaker and photographer, who has worked with artists like Rosalía, Jorja Smith, Dua Lipa and Idris Elba.
The session is moderated by filmmaker, writer and Head of Exhibitions of CCCB, Jordi Costa.
