This proposal by the UB Sound Art Masters explores the intensive use of networked virtual spaces, in particular, the aesthetic and narrative processes that arise from the contact with a sound piece that is not in the same space of the person who interacts with it.
The piece has 4 connected locations via IP: The Fine Arts Faculty, a website to interact, a private network that will be accessed by students, teachers and guest artists, and an installation at the CCCB.
At the Fine Arts Faculty there will be a sound sculpture, surveilled by microphones and a webcam; at the CCCB the sculpture will be visualized via an installation consisting of projections and an octophonic sound system, that will specifically locate the sounds captured by the microphones. The interaction with the sculpture will be possible via web, and via the private network.
The Master in Sound Art of the University of Barcelona offers an open call for an online seminar on September 14, 15 and 16, 2020, exploring aesthetic possibilities of the remote control of sound-emitting objects (metallic sheets activated by means of solenoids and servo motors connected to the network). The resulting works will be presented at Sónar + D CCCB, 18 and 19, 2020.
