Yukiyasu Kamitani

Neuroscientist

Yukiyasu Kamitani is a graduate in Cognitive Science at the Tokyo University and holds a Ph.D. in Computation and Neural Systems by the California Institute of Technology. He has researched the field of cognitive and computational neuroscience at the Harvard Medicine School, and in 2004 he joined ATR Computational Neuroscience Laboratories in Japan. Kamitani is a pioneer in the field of brain decoding, which combines neuro-imaging and deep learning to translate brain signals into neural content. He has collaborated in several scientific and artistic projects, like the exhibition “UUmwelt,” at Serpentine Galleries, London (2018), and he has received numerous awards and recognition for his work.
