Xenia Ermoshina

Internet freedom activist and researcher

Xenia Ermoshina is an Internet freedom activist and researcher. She holds a PhD in sociology of science and technology from the University Mines ParisTech and works at the Center for Internet and Society of CNRS, the French national centre for scientific research, as well as being a postdoctoral researcher at the Citizen Lab of the University of Toronto.

Her study focuses on the control of information in the post-Soviet space, and especially on the analysis of surveillance and censorship technologies against journalists and activists.

She is also part of  the Delta.Chat team, a secure messaging application, where she works as a user experience researcher, where she establishes connections between developers and user communities to promote a bottom-up approach to design where interfaces and architectures are understood as intrinsically political.

Besides work, Xenia makes drone /noise music and organizes Transcyberian Cryptoparties.
