Towards a circular economy. Recycle, Repair, Reuse, Reinvent and Redesign!
Maker Faire Barcelona is an event that brings together the local and international maker community, gathering together researchers, practitioners, technologists, universities, research centres and companies with a strong emphasis on social innovation with the main objective of feedback between projects and participants.
Maker Faire Barcelona 2019 emphasizes the urgent need to rethink and activate a new model of local and scalable economy: research, learning, entrepreneurship, production, employment and responsible consumption in the city, highlighting the crucial role of the Circular Economy, Resilience and Creativity.
For Sónar+D, Maker Faire has selected a dozen of projects carried out by the Barcelona Maker community that cover a wide spectrum of reflection and action. From a critique of our food habits (Strategies for a cultural appropriation of protein based on insects); a solution for the non-recyclable materials we produce on a daily basis (Regenerative design strategies with micromediation for the digestion of pollutants and waste in nature); a sustainable food proposal (Numid - Eco-friendly shop) or El Barri Circular, a co-creation process to explore the connections between Food Waste and local crafts in Poble Nou.
Maker Faire Barcelona 2019 will be held on 5 and 6 October at the Nau Bostik, an emblematic city centre in the La Sagrera neighbourhood.
