Hacking Amazon Echos for creative practice
This workshop will introduce the Amazon Echo as a tool for creative practice by guiding participants through the process of creating a collaborative musical installation based on a previous experiment adapting Darren Solomon’s “In B flat” . In the workshop each smart speaker will become the member of an ensemble of Echoes.
Each participant will be asked to prepare a short (up to ninety seconds) musical / sound contribution as a response to the brief: “We listen, They hear” in advance of the session. Think about who listens to whom in an interaction with a smart speaker, and what might be overheard.
Participants should bring along their contributions as a .WAV file, a laptop computer, and, though not mandatory, if participants have their own Amazon Alexa compatible device, they can bring it. No programming skills are required - we will use a visual tool to create our Alexa ‘skill’. Everybody can participate.
Only for Delegate Pass holders. You can book your appointment through the Networking App.
This workshop is fully booked. Nevertheless we recommend you to sign up in the waiting list and/or go onsite and check if there has been any last minute cancellation
