This installation created by data visualization group at the BSC (Barcelona Supercomputing Center) aims to project the uncertainties regarding the universe –it immensity and mystery– and the recurring questions in history about our place in it.
BSC is intended to visualize agitatedly the space-time magnitude of its elements, such as distances to other solar systems, the possibility of life in some of them, the reason it remains undiscovered and what would eventually happen after its discovery.
Alone invites the visitors to immerse themselves in a visualization where our reference scales change and both measures of distance and time become unnoticeable. This installation provides a set of scientific visualizations based on real historical data, and a brief compilation of data from sci-fi imaginary of modern history. Alone is also interactive through a web app with mixed interaction: a 3D space to navigate into in VR, plus 2D elements and visualizations.
