The role of the ecosystems and business associations in backing the growth of creative startups will be analysed in this talk, a dialogue between Kalam Ali, Startups & Innovation Advisor at European Innovation Hub, and Vincent Favrat, founder of Just Temptation and investor in MOD (Musical Operating Devices), finalist for the Sónar+D 2015 Startup Competition.
Kalam Ali is Startups & Innovation Advisor at the EuropeanPioneers accelerator in Berlin, a startup program run by the European Innovation Hub. The accelerator supports growing media and content startups as well as digital entrepreneurs. Kalam has worked with startups, venture capital and accelerators for over a decade. He also worked on tech product strategy and investment in London at Innovator Capital and was venture partner at early stage media tech investor Sushi Venture Partners. Kalam is a startup advisor at the new London based music & tech startup accelerator MarathonArtists LABs.
Vincent Favrat is an investor specialized in cultural enterprises. Born in Switzerland, Favrat graduated in ‘Film Aesthetics and Praxis’ at Paris 1, Panthéon-Sorbonne and he is recognised for investing in Musimap, a Belgian company that researches how to translate human emotions into sophisticated algorithms that emulate the relationship between humans and music. Favrat also funded more than 35 original soundtracks for European co-productions, music projects and record companies through his company Just Temptation. In his early career, Favrat worked for the Montreux Jazz Festival, led the Swiss Musicians Union and co-directed the Lausanne Jazz Onze+ Festival.
