On January 20th 2012 ALMA, the largest astronomical observatory of the world, located on the Atacama Desert (Chile), conducted observations of Orion Nebula with 16 antennas. Associating a different tonality with each of the spectral lines emitted by the nebula, the ALMA sound database was created.
“Sonidos de ALMA” (ALMA Sounds) is born from a collaboration with artists like artists like Luciano, Dj Raff, Felipe Venegas, Fernanda Arrau and ATOM™. ALMA Sounds poses the creation of pieces of music with sounds coming from space. Organized as an audio library, these works will be available for the public of Sónar+D.
Members of the Sonidos de ALMA project will participate on the talk Arts@CERN and ALMA: When art and science meet.
