We Are Europe at Sónar+D 2017

1/06/2017

For the second year running, Sónar+D joins forces with other 7 European festivals in the project We Are Europe. In 2017, our guest festivals are TodaysArt (The Hague) y c/o pop (Cologne).

As a result of this collaboration, a series of activities have been jointly organised for 2017.

In collaboration with TodaysArt, different aspects of digital art will be explored. In Entropy, boundaries between performance and scientific storytelling become blurred in a visual experience driven by code. In Creative Technologies Café, participants will enter the creative process and the tools used by creators such as NONOTAK, Alba G. Corral, Playmodes and Tarik Barri. Then, Francisco López will present "Hundreds of audio-artists and one composer-performer Turing-test machine: the ‘audio-MAD’ and ‘audio-DH’ collective projects in Madrid and The Hague", his experience with human creators plus a composer computer.

Together with c/o pop, we will sharpen our activism by exploring this year's We Are Europe theme 'Culture in the cities of tomorrow', in a panel called "Fight for your right to party and create" with Marie McPartlin, Dimitri Hegerman and Ralph Christoph. We strongly believe that the technology behind cryptocurrency (blockchain) should not be cryptic, but for everyone, for musicians, record labels y fans, and so we will gather experts and users: Peter Harris, Cliff Fluet, Bas Grasmayer and Blanca Rego.

MarketLab will be the meeting point for participants at the We Are Europe activities. Casual meetings, interviews and meetings will be held at the WAE stand.

TodaysArt's director Olof van Winden will partipate at Meet The Expert, the one-on-one professional coaching meetings for 10 minutes with renowned experts from creative industries.

Three artists (Andy Stott, Lena Willikens and Roosevelt) and two collaborative projects (Entropy and Tarik Barri feat. Lea Fabrikant) will be the acts hosted by this collaboration. More info here.
