The COVID-19 crisis has changed the course of our lives and left our plans for the future on ‘stand-by’ for a number of weeks. With this in mind, we will present an edition of Sónar+D that will bring the summer season to a close whilst allowing us to share all we’ve learned in the intervening months, as well as anticipating ideas for the future.
Sónar+D CCCB will be at once a celebration, and a meeting place for creative communities from the city, and further afield. As every year, we will come together to share the new projects that inspire us and that push us to ask questions, imagine possibilities, sketch ideas and forge the paths that may come to define future intersections of culture, art and technology.
Sónar+D CCCB will be a fundamentally online event, free to access and open to all, with the possibility of physical attendance depending on how the legislation regarding capacity evolves.
This being said, at Sónar+D we believe in transcending limitations, both physical and virtual. As such, we’re already imagining new formats for the sharing of knowledge and experience. This will be a necessarily inflexive edition, which will still feature an extensive program of the regular participative activities, including the conferences, masterclasses, demos, workshops, performances and networking.
We’ll be working with the creative communities in Barcelona who have been an intrinsic part of the project year after year, and we’ll also be looking further afield, connecting cities and festivals including TodaysArt (The Hague), Reworks (Thessaloniki) and Unsound (Krakow), which will take place in their respective cities on these dates, and who share a creative platform with us in the ongoing We Are Europe co-operative program, which Sónar has been a part of for the last 5 years.
Above all, we’re looking forward to reconnecting with you; the creators, programmers, activists, cultural agitators, designers, artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, hackers and the culturally curious. In short, people who share our passion for the culture of our time.
Over the coming weeks we’ll be announcing more details of this special edition as the program of partners and collaborators expands.
Virtually, or face to face, we’ll see you in September at Sónar+D CCCB.
