Maker culture and the creative processes of music are the main focus or Friday among other contents

Three women researching and working at the forefront of design and digital fabrication will give lectures at Sónar+D. The creative entrepreneur Ayah Bdeir, founder of littleBits, the “lego” of electronics; Carla Diana, robot designer who creates robots that have an almost-human behaviour, and Nadya Peek, who from the MIT’s “Center for Bits and Atoms” designs frameworks to design machines that are capable to design more machines to innovate in the field of fabrication.

Creative processes, studio techniques, strategies for live performance, artistic evolution… Artists like Joe Goddard,DJ Shadow and RP Boo will share their stories on the Stage+D in their respective talks.
 
De La Soul’s manager, Brandon Hixon in conversation with Kickstarter’s Molly Neuman, will talk about how technology and a closer relationship with fans has rejuvenated the band’s career; and Dj KiNK will demonstrate live the newest instruments developed by Pioneer.
 
Get to know virtual reality along with one of their most prominent researchers: Google’s Jessica Brillhart, who will open Friday with a masterclass.

Sacem will present ideas and technologies to develop a sustainable music practice in electronic music with it’s director Jean-Noël Tronc, and Caroline Champarnaud will present the big data for music collaboration between the French collective society and IBM.

Finally, Friday is the finals day: Don’t miss the Startup Competition pitches and awards, or the Sónar Innovation Challenge demos of the resulting prototypes.
