In the last decade no one has transformed the ecosystem of creativity like Kickstarter, the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects. The numbers are impressive: since 2009 more than eight million people have contributed around 1.5 billion euro to fund more than eighty thousand creative projects in fields such as music, design, film, fashion and technology. But Kickstarter is more than a resource for funding: is an enabler of communities, and a powerful tool to try experiments before they are launched to market. Projects made possible by Kickstarter include Oscarwinning movies, works that are already in the MoMA collection, and groundbreaking technological devices that are changing the world.
Kickstarter lands at Sónar+D with a wide program of activities. The Made with Kickstarter space at Marketlab presents a curated selection of unique and exciting creative projects at the intersection of art and technology, with creators themselves on hand to showcase their work. In addition, throughout the festival the Kickstarter team will lead workshops, talks, and consulting sessions that will allow the participants to learn strategies and best practices for inspiring a community to help them bring their project to life.
