In the studio with Richard Russell

Richard Russell launched XL Recordings with the goal to publish dance music records when he was just a teenager. In 25 years the label’s sound has diversified and the list of artists he has worked with is nothing short of impressive. At Sónar+D 2015, Richard Russell had a conversation with the music journalist Hattie Collins about his career path, about the necessary values to make the most of the talent of each artist and his experience as a producer of the last albums by two legends, Gil Scott Heron and Bobby Womack, who died shortly after their respective records were released.
