The German experimental filmmaker Thorsten Fleisch works in both digital and analogue formats. He processes film tape in the most curious ways: from growing crystals on it, to burn 30.000 volts through photo paper to get poetic and abstract results.
His work has been exhibited in international festivals like the New York Film Festival, Ars Electronica, and the International Festival of Rotterdam. He has also been awarded prizes like a Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica for his film Gestalt; he has contributed the title credits for Gaspar Noé’s film Enter the Void, and has made the visuals for the Basement Jaxx 2009 British tour. Currently he is working on “Teslapunk” his first video game for Nintendo.
Fleisch’s talk will cover the latest trends on innovation and image in experimental film.
