PARAT+ is a new app for iOS that allows musicians to control several devices through multi-touch gestures with just one interface in live performances.
This tool is a virtual ‘fader box’ with which you can record, remap and set the controls instantly and intuitively. Use one finger to record and loop, use two fingers to remap the interval of each fader, or use three fingers to set the responsivity curve, rescaling, enlarging, pausing, interrupting and cancelling gestures. You might also use several PARAT+ apps in the same network and operate jointly to control sound levels, synthesis, lights, etc.
PARAT+ is a project by Incalcando, a creative technology studio from Glasgow specialised in software development for interactive audiovisual installations, systems for electronic music live performances, and audio and video software. Incalcando has collaborated with artists such as Martin Creed, David Shrigley, Beardyman and John Tilbury. PARAT+ is a collaboration with Dr. Nick Fells from the University of Glasgow to create an additional user interface, optimized for playing binaural surround sound.
