‘Lost’ is the latest film/VR experience produced by Oculus Story Studio for the Oculus Rift headset. This film is directed by former Pixar filmmaker Saschka Unseld, author of the renowned short ‘The Blue Umbrella’ (released in theatres in 2015), who also took part in the creative process of films such as ‘Toy Story 3’, ‘Cars 2’ and ‘Brave’. ‘Lost’ tells a very simple story: a huge robotic hand gets lost in the forest and seeks the rest of the body it belongs to. The spectator is placed in the centre of the action and experiences what happens around as a first hand witness and main character at the same time, in a new exhibition of the immersive capability and outstanding sensory possibilities of virtual reality storytelling.
Oculus Story Studio is the creative department of Oculus Rift, where the narrative potential of VR is researched.
