These tools have been successfully used in the Cultural Ring of Catalonia, and one of their possible applications is high quality real time mixing video sources located in different places over the Internet. SPECIFI is made up of four interlinked open source software modules: an audio and video stream mixer, a videoconference system, a cloud service to transcode video, and a software to stream low latency video. These tools are integrated in a highly configurable and easy to use platform. Presentation: Thrusday 12:00 – 12:30

An augmented audio reality system that enables sound designers to place sounds on a virtual map, and users to experience the created soundscape in real time with their GPS equipped smartphone.

The soundscape changes constantly depending on where the user’s devices. Once the user is at a particular location, various sound parameters can be adjusted, such as the volume, the number of repetitions or the tempo. Regardless of the point in time at which the user enters the location, the sounds will play back synchronically. An interface for a dual screen installation, used to access and mix public library digital collections. The collections being used in this case are a collection of digitalized posters from the Spanish Civil War, belonging to the Arxiu General de Catalunya, and a collection of field recordings made by Dan Norton. The system generates visualizations, and the images and sounds are mixed together. Users contribute to the digital collections by adding personal memories and observations. The comments and recollections appear as flowers growing in a “memory field”. A project by Dan Norton, Onur Ferhat and Fernando Vilariño of the Computer Vision Center. Presentation: Friday 17:00 – 18:00
