BitBrain Technologies is a company specializing in neuroscience and neurotechnology. Founded in 2010 as a spin-off of the University of Zaragoza, BitBrain is an international benchmark for neurotechnology applications (a set of engineering disciplines used to obtain data from the nervous system in order to interact with it).
At Sónar+D, BitBrain will bring to the stage a session mixing music and neurotechnology. Using the latest techniques and tools for decoding brain signals and biometric monitoring, it will demonstrate how different parts of the artist’s brain light up – Zaragoza DJ Chelis -, in order to show the audience part of what is occurring inside his head. Sensors will also be placed on six members of the public, who will be monitored so that the creator and the rest of those present are inspired by seeing other forms of emotional responses at any given time.
Chelis is considered to be one of Spain’s best DJs. He is known for his versatile style, impeccable technique, his curiosity for the latest trends and his extensive musical knowledge that traverses eras, genres and music tags.
BitBrain is one of the European Commission’s STARTS (Science & Technology & The Arts) program projects.
